2 inches of snow in the mountians

The deepest snowfall so far of 2009 in The Great Smoky Mountains National Park ocurred on January 22, 2008. The temperature reached about eight degrees and Three inches of snow fell on the Cades Cove area. Cades Cove loop Road was closed all day on January 21,2008 and opened late on January 22, 2008. A trip around the loop road as soon as the gates opened provided an upclose view of about twenty whitetailed deer.
